Use this medicine as prescribed by your healthcare provider
This medication is not recommended in children.
In adults , the 1st table of this medication should be taken as soon as possible after intercourse, then 1 tablet 12hrs later than the first dose .
If vomiting occurs within 3hrs of either dose m an additional tablet should be taken immediately.
Emergency contraception
This medicine is used in preventing pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this medication for further advice.
Some patients taking this medicine might experience infertility on continuous use, and irregular or prolonged or heavy vaginal bleeding during the first 2 or 3 cycles. If you experience any of these symtpoms please consult your doctor.
Pregnancy
This medication must be not used during pregnancy. Consult your doctor for further advice.
Lactation
This medication passes into breast milk but it is unlikely to harm an infant. Consult your doctor fo further advice.
Precautions
Severe hepatic (liver) impairment , severe malabsorption. Overdue menstrual bleeding. Unprotected intercourse more than 72 hours previously in current menstrual cycle. Patients who still become pregnant after this medication should be monitored for ectopic pregnancy.
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of thrombosis(blood clot), active acute porphyria(liver disorder ) and other current severe liver diseases or focal migraine(severe headaches) at the time of presentation. It is also contraindicated in patients with breast cancer or a family history of breast cancer or any hormone dependent cancer . Patients with diabetes , high cholesterol and depression among other diseases should also not use this medication. Consult your healthcare provider for further details.
