
Clomid is an oral non-steroidal ovulatory stimulant indicated for the treatment of ovulatory dysfunction in women desiring pregnancy. It works as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) to stimulate the release of hormones necessary for ovulation.
Pharmacologic Class: Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM).
Primary Indication: Induction of ovulation in patients with documented ovulatory failure.
Mechanism of Action: Inhibits estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, stimulating the release of GnRH, FSH, and LH.
Administration: Typically administered as a 50 mg oral tablet once daily for 5 consecutive days, starting on or near the fifth day of the menstrual cycle.
